Painting Background Border
As I was finishing my text I was reminded of the border that my pictures has that gives it a kind of vignette look. This was intentional and something I created when photographing to painting. I did this because I want each slide to be enclosed, my text is not a story and therefore each slide does not relate to the other so I feel that the border helps to show this. I created it by placing the paper and painted plastic over a circular lampshade so the light source was underneath, then I took a picture of it.
I wanted to have a light source underneath because I wanted my pictures to 'glow', the lampshade was great for creating the border around the edge though.

The Feel
So I said I would write a post trying to explain the 'feel' I am going for with my multimodal text. I want to create something that people feel glad they have looked at. And leaves them with happy emotions such as feeling sentimental, warm and happy. I thought this fits the text as that is what a blessing is designed to do - make someone feel blessed. The Irish blessing in particular resonated with me because it is my favourite place and that is why I chose to do an Irish blessing.
So the feel is the main theme of my multimodal text and I am making all my decisions on meeting this 'feel'. For example, when taking photos of my paintings to use as my background I put a light source behind them to help them glow a little. I like this look as it ended up giving the pictures a bit of a border where the light fades and really focuses the eye on the centre picture, which is supposed to be depicting happiness) and also a visual representation of the words. I think this helps me to meet my theme.

The Making Of
I thought I would post some pictures of how I am creating the painted backgrounds.
Process:
I painted onto some clear plastic, and used a sharpie to draw the silhouette.

Background Re-visited
I am decided on how to go about the full body of my multimodal text slides - hooray!
Title Slide
I am keeping the background decided on previously for my first 'title' slide as I feel the colours work well with the rest of the page and it gives it a warm feel.
Body
I gave this a lot of thought! To begin with, I was going to use photographs. However, I decided that it didn't give the feel that I was hoping to. I realise I haven't talked about the 'feel' for my multimodal text at all and will be doing a post to explain that, but in short: I want to create a sentimental, warm, happy feel as I feel that reflects the text. So, in order to create this I have decided to use the photographs originally chosen, but instead will be copying them by painting. I know it won't look as good as the original photos as I am by no means a good painter but I think it will portray the feel and look I am trying to create. We will see how that works out!
I will also be including silhouette figures that fit with the photographs, some of the photographs already have them on them, some do not so I will add them in.
I chose to use silhouettes instead of real people photographs as it represents that the blessing can be said to/read by anyone. There is an anonymity there that hopefully people relate to more easily.
- Photographs - these do not follow a specific colour scheme like I originally thought I would, they were chosen to represent the words being said on that slide. However all the photos would be considered aesthetic and were chosen because they made me feel sentimental and/or warm and/or happy (the feel I am aiming for). I thought I might as well post the original photographs as they probably won't look like them on my actual slides.

Background
I finally have my colour scheme decided for my background. It is actually from one of the earlier symbols that I posted.

Irish Blessing
The Irish Blessing I will be using.
''Lucky stars above you,
Sunshine on your way,
Many friends to love you,
Joy in work and play-
Laughter to outweigh each care,
In your heart a song-
And gladness waiting everywhere
All your whole life long''
