I will be analysing a page in the book 'Rose Blanche'.
- Colour - the colour used is mostly brown and grey, with the girl wearing more colour, however she is not wearing bright colours except for the ribbon in her hair. As the story progresses, the ribbon fades and then disappears completely, signalling that her links to the Nazi's are fading, then disappear completely.
- Illustration - the illustration is detailed. The branches on the page are spiky and go across the character. At the bottom of the page, in front of the character and the way she is facing (and moving towards), this gives the connotation that she has barriers to overcome.
Layout - The picture is enclosed by a white frame, which again connotes the theme of barriers, also the layout is the same throughout which gives the impression of conformity. The writing is always at the top, which shows segregation - these are all themes of the Nazi regime.
